<item x="0" y="00" name="Community Building" target="community.swf">The creation of a community web site is different to creating a 'normal' web presence. Interaction levels are generally higher and user participation is not only desired, but necessary for the community to grow. Content control mechanisms must be in place for the community to stay clean and save. To facilitate all of this user and content management systems are required. Since the aim of the community is to grow, the application supporting the community needs to grow with it resulting in a specialised community framework. I can help you in the planning, development, deployment and maintenance of your web community portal. Through needs assessments and analysis of your target audience I can establish the groundwork for your community web application. The result is a development brief outlining functions, limitation and features. I can then manage and coordinate development, returning a framework that is specifically tailored towards the needs of your community application. The adherence to best practise principles and the use of open standards allows amendments, enhancements and changes to be implemented easily throughout any stage of the project. <item x="0" y="15" name="Communication Solutions" target="communication.swf">Communication is the process of exchanging information by two entities. The most common form of communication on the Internet is a client PC connecting to a server. In less technical terms this simply means that a person is looking at a web page. This is NOT the only communication option the web has to offer: Web Services, APIs, web-to-mobile gateways, Voice over IP, and others are all established communication methods. Each having distinct advantages and disadvantages. I can help you select and implement the most suitable communication method for your project to get the most out of the Internet.
By defining and setting up your communication methods, end-points and protocols I can develop web applications specifically tailored to your cneeds.
For example: I can connect your CRM solution to a SMS gateway enabling you to communicate with your audience directly worldwide through SMS. Facilitating the Internet as 'long-distance carrier' this is extremely cost-effecient.

<item x="0" y="30" name="Content Management" target="cms.swf">To deliver up-to-date and relevant content is the biggest challenge a web site owner has to face. In times where worldwide news distribution has become a matter of milliseconds it is imperative to keep web site content fresh, deliverable and available. This task can't be managed manually.
I can assist you in the selection, implementation and/or the development of a content management system (CMS). Depending on your business' needs and budget I can outline requirements, your options and formulate a strategy to achieve the desired outcomes.
Through use of open protocols such as XML I ensure that your content remains compatible with and accessible through multiple aggregators. This effectively eliminates the need to maintain more than one (master) copy and streamlines administrative procedures, resulting in reduced overheads.
For example: a specification document maintained in XML can be accessed by the product's brochure (PDF), the website (HTML) or your customer relationship management software (CRM-API). Not only does this avoid time intensive and costly maintenance, but most importantly it ensures that your information is consistent throughout your whole organisation.

<item x="0" y="45" name="Web 2.0 Applications" target="telescope.swf"> To deliver content outside the boundaries of domain or website is now commonly referred to as 'web 2.0' applications.
The most common - if not so new - examples for 'web2.0-ability' are RSS feeds: A specific formatting description makes it easy for others to access information and reuse or (re-)distribute it at will. More recent examples are Web APIs and Web Services, both allowing a much higher level of integration.
I can help you transforming your existing content into a web 2.0 coherent format that others can access easily. Alternatively, I can provide you with a Web API to enable client's applications to query your content database. Or I can create and manage content aggregators for you that crawl the web or grab content form sources you have subscribed to. Whatever your requirements, I can help you delivering your information via the channels you choose.

<container name="Coding" x="180" y="0"> <item x="0" y="00" name="PHP" target="php.swf">I am a strong believer in open source technology, in particular PHP: It's free, fast, stable and specifically designed with web development in mind. As such it offers efficient and simple solutions for day-to-day problems when developing online applications. Overheads are kept to a minimum, development time and costs are considerably lower than using other web development environments.
I have developed PHP solutions for nearly a decade, in both Linux/Apache/MySQL environments and under Windows/MSSQL. It is worth mentioning that I never saw PHP crash. Not once!
I can develop PHP frameworks for your web application that follow strict (or loose) object oriented design methodologies and best practise principles. I can take any design approach desired and I am fluent in coding in PHP4 and PHP5.

<item x="0" y="15" name="MySql" target="mysql.swf">There are reasons why MySQL is the most popular database in web development: It's stable, free and fast.
Combined with PHP MySQL is the perfect solution for online data storage, retrieval and manipulation.
I've been programming SQL for over 10 years covering a wide variety of applications. Amongst them are design of content management systems, large-scale data transformation management, interfacing with different data base systems (IDMS, MSSQL/TransAct, Access, PostGres, dBase) and the provision of detailed data analysis.
I have been designing data base structures for small start ups as well as for large corporations and government bodies.

<item x="0" y="30" name="XML/XSLT" target="xml.swf">Using XML is the easiest way to share information with multiple consumers whilst maintaining only one master copy. Take my web site for example: Its content is sourced from ONE single XML file. Whether you're looking at the Flash Version, the dynamic HTML or the blank text version, whenever I need to update the site's content all I do is change the master XML file. Everything else happens automatically.
With over five years professional experience in XML/XLST and DTD development I can help you leverage the immense power of XML.

<item x="0" y="45" name="Flash" target="as.swf">Adobe Flash is the standard for multimedia delivery over the internet. Developing Flash applications requires a combination of skills that is uncommon: programmatically and analytical as well as creative. This is probably the reason why I love Flash: It enables me to bring together all my skills into one environment: programming, graphic/motion design and audio engineering.
Flash empowers me to create cutting edge, scaleable solution that can be maintained outside the Flash environment. By separating content and presentation layers administrative overheads are reduced and the application becomes transparent and manageable.
Combined with MySQL, PHP and XML there are few things Flash can't do. Certainly there is no better way to deliver rich media content over the internet.

<container name="Design" x="340" y="0"> <item x="0" y="00" name="Web Design" target="webDesign.swf">Good web design encompasses more than the eye can see. It needs to incorporate usability standards as well as being aesthetically pleasing. It should be easy to index by search engines (robots) and serve more than one medium simultaneously.
Whilst many different technologies are available, not all are suitable for every project: D/XHTML solutions might not be compatible with your target's machine specs. AJAX might interfere with your user tracking system. Flash might be too heavy, static HTML is too hard to maintain.
I have an intensive track record in merging aesthetics with design. My background in graphic design and advertising ranges from the design of mineral water labels to e-commerce user interfaces. I ensure that the proposed solution will not only look good, but can be realised within your budget constraints, that it functions as expected and that it will have the same appearance on all platforms, whatever the browsers, OS and version combination.
I can advise you on the most appropriate technology mix and develop a solution for you that fit your corporate ID, your budget and deliver a coherent user experience across all common platforms.

It includes the graphic design, information design and a wide variety of usability methods, commonly referred to as the Look-and-Feel.
Since it is vitally important that your web site users find what they are looking for exactly where they are looking for it interface design is one of the most important disciplines when developing web applications.
Over the last decade I've designed user interfaces for communication and contact management applications, Government and corporate Intranets, E-commerce systems and also for some more exotic applications such as automated parking ticket solutions.

I'm familiar with the different requirements per medium and I can assist you not only in the creative part of the design process, but also in the management of the physical media production.
